Ive been thinking of building out a .223 Saiga, but have held off because of mag availability. I know a lot of guys run Tapco mags, but they arent for me. I dont do plastic tabs. Ive read that the steel Weiger mags work great in the Saiga, so those would be my mags of choice, and the occasional C. A certain company who also sells Saiga-12 five round mags that are almost exact copies of the stock mags also has teflon coated AK47 steel mags that are supposed to be made to Russian military specs. Are any of you guys familiar with these mags? I ordered a few and am curious as to whether or not they are as good as advertised. SP- That roosky furniture would look amazing on that tromix w/the folder! I am hoping to buy the setup that Classy posted and have it done deep red..does anyone know if the one from Russianmilitary.com slips right on..or do I need to modify something (only using the handguard and pistol grip).

I received my CSSPECS steel S308 mag in the mail today.Very carefully packaged and much heavier than I imagined and now I know why.These are SOLID BEEF.It locks solidly and reliably into the mag well with just a little play(no more than many 7.62AK mags) and seems very well constructed and get's rid of the "toylike" feel of the plastic magazine which was really . I have a large number of Sure Fire in .223 and they work great. I just decided to use only these two mag brands in my .223 Saiga's due to the "no bullet guide" issue. I have an extended magazine release an if I fire rapid shots the drum will fall out after 3-5 shots. the magazine fits tight in the magwell and if I hold the magazine release back while I am shooting it stays in. I used the springs, followers, and base plate locking plate from 7 beat (rusted and dented) up Com-Block steel mags I had in my cull parts box, and just used the body and base plate of the Tapcos to repair them.I purchased two 10 round mags from Csspecs for my Lynx 12 (3 gun version) and had a lot of FTFs, I would say 30% fail to feed rate with Csspecs.
