We are getting the front porch extended and the telephone exchange box comes inside the porch now. Is it mandatory to move the box outside of the porch. The engineer moved the master socket and I had my old phone plugged into the old master socket which was still working for a day, then it stopped and I plugged it into the hub, I did not want to use the digital phones I wanted to keep my old BT guardian phones. I have tried to wire a phone extension today copying the wiring in the existing socket. The main incoming wire goes to a junction box and has only 2 wires connected. The 2 wires then go to a socket in the hall which has been in use for a long time.

I’ve had a look and outside it has a very old looking circular junction box which I gather is owned by open reach, inside we have a small rectangular junction box. If you run BT spec. cable from the junction box to where you want the main BT socket, hopefully you have a helpful Openreach person who agrees to wire the main socket there.
